KPC Youth is talking to organisations working in Kenfig, Pyle and Cornelly who want to see young people succeed. KPC Youth is having conversations about how to maximise joint working with other organisations - where KPC's work can strengthen the work of others. KPC have engaged Gareth Kiddie Associates to help. This blog is a record of the conversations and actions that flow. Its your place to comment on KPC Youth's future - and how you might help.
What's it all about?
KPC Youth are exploring with partners opportunities to strenghten our work - in a way that supports others with a common cause in supporting young people in the area. Like most organisations we are acutely aware of the need to underpin our work with stable funding. Funding Open Access youth provision has been a real challenge - and will continue to be. We are working with Gareth Kiddie Associates to help us identify ways of funding some of our exisiting work in new ways - possibly through consortias of like minded organisations. We are also exploring the viability of projects that could build on what we currently do. For example we want to test whether a new KPC social enterprise running a bunk house is feasible. Over the coming months Gareth and his team working with Steve Cranston will be pulling together workshops and meeting key people in Bridgend to get feedback from partners on the issues and challenges . They will be helping us to identify ways we can move forward in partnerships with others. At present, KPC doesn't have the capacity to fullfill their potential, but would expand easily.
Lack of partnership working has been highlighted. KPC, however, does work in conjunction with a number of organisations, locally, to provide the best service possible. For example, YOT, PRU, YJB, local primary and comprehensive schools, community service, social services, job centre, local businesses, valley and Vale, Ogwr Dash, Positive Futures, YISP and changing tracks etc. Communication with all these organisations is good and beneficial.
