Better Partnership Working

Following feedback KPC Youth is holding a short workshop on 12th June between 3.30 and 5.00 to discuss this issue:

‘How can KPC Youth work more effectively with other organisations – where there is more win/win for us and our partners?'

In an informal workshop we want to work through these questions

Who does KPC Youth need to be working more with?
What might the benefits be for KPC Youth and our partners?
What things are KPC Youth doing well that are building good partnerships?
Are there things that KPC Youth is doing that get in the way of partnership working – and should stop?
What new things could be done to work more effectively with other organisations?

The outcome we are looking for is a series of practical suggestions - which will be posted here for additional comment - and action by KPC.

Stakeholder Workshop Notes

We are pleased to post here the notes of the workshop held on 26th April see here.

Feedback from the workshop has confirmed that the work KPC Youth has been doing is held in high regard. Delegates fed back that KPC services met local needs and was of good quality. This feedback provides a very positive context within which to continue discussions on how to underpin KPC's work into the future.

The new project ideas that were presented to delegates were well received. Several useful comments made around the Bunk House proposal from tourism colleagues in BCBC – and the offer of providing market research data on niche markets was made. Opportunities to develop a partnership with training providers in the area were well received and leads were offered by delegates. No objections were raised to any of the proposed new areas of development from delegates. This is positive.

The way KPC works with other organisations was flagged up as an issue. Perceptions of the need for ‘real partnership working and less introspection were raised as key areas for KPC to work on. KPC Youth has taken some time to reflect on this feedback and plans to run a workshop to agree practical ways forward. More to follow shortly on this

Many thanks to all of you who took part in the workshop on 26th April. One of the early sessions was to set the scene - Paula Lunnon, KPC Chair presented this - Here is a link to a PDF copy. The purpose was to give an overview of work undertaken to date. It was also an opportunity to share project ideas for the future - and for discussion about possible partnerships where there are areas of mutual benefit. We held a Stakeholder Day on 26th April. The purpose was involve key individuals and organisations who have an interest in the development and success of KPC Youth. The session and follow up will:
Maximize opportunities for potential partners to fully understand KPC Youth and their outline development plans
Provide opportunities for stakeholders to ask questions about KPC Youth work to date
Identify areas where KPC existing and future work could strengthen the work of other stakeholders
Focus on areas where win/win partnership working could be explored as a follow up to the workshop
Record key discussions using flip charts and uses of a video diary room
Establish new ways of communicating with partners – especially web based platforms that update participants about future activity
